The Great Stroller Debate

We have been following many Disney blogs, Facebook groups and podcasts for years.  There is one topic that always comes up…STROLLERS!  Many families agonize over whether or not to bring a stroller for the kids.  So lets break this down.

First, I would like to say that you know your kids!  Do they have a hard time making it through a trip to Wal-Mart before getting tired and complaining about wanting to sit down?  Or, can they run around a zoo all day long and never get tired?  So before you can start thinking about whether or not to bring a stroller, think about how you kids handle a situation with lots of walking!

So now you have decided that your kiddos need a stroller.  Do you rent a stroller at Disney or take one with you?  The current rental prices at WDW are $15 per day for a single stroller or $31 per day for a double stroller.  They do offer a discount for multiple days.  However, it is important to remember that there is a ton of walking before you even get to the park entrance to rent your stroller.  Even more important to remember, at night when you are heading back to your resort and everyone is beyond tired, that walk seems even longer.  Think about it – you have to walk from your room to a bus stop or monorail stop, then walk to the park entrance.  And we all know there are lines involved in the travel process too!

You can always rent from a stroller rental company and have the stroller waiting for you at your resort when you arrive.  Kingdom Strollers and Orlando Stroller Rentals are two companies that we see lots of the strollers in the parks every time we go.  We have never rented from these companies before but they seem to have the know how to get things done.  Check out their websites for more info!

When our daughter was “stroller age”, we always brought ours from home.  We had a stroller that we all loved!  It was easy to push and our daughter was always comfortable.  Sometimes comfy enough to take a nap!

I saw an advertisement for a personal stroller the other day that I thought was worth passing along to folks.  GB Pockit Stroller by GB Child USA is a stroller that you need to check out, especially if you are in the market for a new stroller.  This thing folds down to about the size of a backpack.  This will make breakdown to get on a bus so much easier!  We have included a link to the video so you guys can see it!  Check it out!

One last thing about strollers; Disney is very particular about where you park the stroller when not in use.  Make sure you look for the stroller parking area signs and take all valuables with you.  This includes food and autograph books.  The squirrels know how to work a Ziploc bag…it is crazy!  And how devastated would your little be to come back to the stroller after a torentail summer downpour to find the autograph book with all of the character signatures drenched!  Strollers do get moved around in the parking areas.  Make sure to tie something to your stroller that makes it identifiable.  A bright collared scarf or even a balloon would work.

And if you are still undecided about a stroller, here is one last tidbit.  It is a fantastic place for your little one to nap while in the parks!
